INDIANAPOLIS — A trio of surprising players will be inactive this week for the Indianapolis Colts.
Cornerback Pierre Desir, who has been battling a hamstring injury all season but was able to play last week despite not practicing, will be held out of the game against Denver due to the injury.
The surprising part is that cornerback Quincy Wilson is also inactive. Wilson, who appeared to be the Colts’ top backup on the outside, has seen his spot in the pecking order at the nickel and dime go to Shakial Taylor and some of the Indianapolis safeties, but he seemed to be the top option on the outside.
With Desir down and Wilson a healthy scratch, though, it appears he’s fallen even further.
The other surprise is the healthy scratch of Deon Cain, who has played 48.8% of the snaps this season but had made just three catches this year. The return of rookie Parris Campbell likely knocked Cain to the bench.
Tackle Le’Raven Clark, defensive tackle Carl Davis (hamstring), defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis (ankle) and running back Jonathan Williams round out the inactives.
